Color Management

Laptop displays are generally poor, and the HP Compaq 6730s is no exception to that. Despite being a poor display, it can be color managed. I measured the display with a spectrophotometer and generated a color profile using ArgyllCMS. You can download the ICCv2 compliant color profile as hp_compaq_6730s.icc. To use the profile you need to install GNOME Color Manager, after which you can just double click the .icc file to install it, using the Color Profiles applet on the System/Preferences menu you can enable the color profile for your display. The profile should give optimal accuracy with the laptop display at 100% brightness. Your mileage may vary, since not every display is manufactured identically, and displays change with age.
