Testing Bluetooth

Making a note of the device

  1. On the phone drag down the bluetooth indicator
  2. Tap on settings
  3. Scan for the device you want to test
  4. Connect the DUT(Device Under Test, Phone or tablet) to an ubuntu pc
  5. On the pc open the terminal and type adb shell

  6. In the shell type bluetoothctl on the whole this will display the mac address and name of the device

  7. Copy the mac address
  8. In the bluetoothctl shell type info then paste the mac address and hit enter

  9. Copy the description into a text file and keep it safe incase you need to report a bug.

Install Pilot

  1. Goto the apps scopes
  2. Tap on search
  3. Type in pilot
  4. Tap on the store icon
  5. Tap on pilot
  6. Tap on install, add you ubuntuone login details if required
  7. Pilot is now installed

Run the tests

  1. Open pilot
  2. Run through the test suite passing, skipping or failing where required

Please file bugs for tests that fail it is important to us that we get any issues resolved.
When filing bugs it is important to include the following information:

  1. The devices you are using (the information you stored in the text file from above) and the phone/tablet you are using
  2. The point at which it broke
  3. Be aware that you may be asked from more info this can include debugging info which can be found Here
