To get the Malaysia LoCo Team (MalaysianTeam) approved as an Approved LoCo Team.
Spreading Ubuntu
To spread the Ubuntu's spirit to all Malaysians as well as strengthen Ubuntu brand in Malaysia in business, education and government.
Provide local supports
To give / provide supports to local / Malaysian users through forum, IRC, e-mails, meet ups, etc.
More Ubuntu activities
To organize more events and activities such as InstallFest, workshops, trainings, meet ups and so forth not only to members but to the public as well.
Involve in Ubuntu Projects
To encourage members involvement in Ubuntu Project such as packaging, translations and localization (l10n), and also documentations. So far we have members already participate in various Ubuntu projects, which can be viewed from their participation in Launchpad.
Experiences / Efforts
Spreading Ubuntu
Members have been spreading Ubuntu to Governments and businesses throughout the country. Some of the converted companies / agencies are:
Balka Approach Sdn. Bhd. - Kuching, Sarawak
Small company (total of 5 unit of PCs) based in Kuching has been converted from Windows to run entirely in Ubuntu and Xubuntu (for low-end machines). The main reasons for the conversion are
cost and
virus.

Translations / Localizations (l10n)

Some of the Ubuntu Malaysia members are actively involved with translations in Launchpad where we are translating the existing projects (in Launchpad) into Bahasa Malaysia (or Malay) for the local usage (ie. in Education, etc). Ubuntu Malaysia Meet Ups

The second Ubuntu Malaysia grand meet up was held on 13th July 2008 at Restoran Pelita Jalan Ampang (Near KLCC). This is a quite big meet-up which is attended by numbers of active, old and new Ubuntu Malaysia Community members. So, we take this opportunity to know more about each other and share our thoughts and ideas to accelerate the growth of Ubuntu Community in Malaysia.

Ubuntu Malaysia Hang Out
This is a gathering and meeting at Starbucks The Gardens, KL on 27th January 2008. It was a follow up meeting and discussion from Ubuntu Malaysia Mailing List for the upcoming Ubuntu Malaysia Meet Up that will be held on 24th February 2008 at Fakulti Teknologi Maklumat and Sains Kuantitatif, UiTM Shah Alam. We invite all members and public to "hang out" for chit chat, discussion, Q&A, etc.

CD's Give Away To IIUM - 11th August 2006
150 cds of Ubuntu 6.06 LTS to one of university in Malaysia were gave to students in order to give exposure about Ubuntu. It was given to one of the IT department and were used in some of their labs.Expos / Exhibitions

KCBA ICT Expo 2006

This activity is carried out by members of Ubuntu Malaysia in East Malaysia (Sarawak) under the name of Kuching Open Source Community (a local open source community) during the KCBA ICT Expo 2006. In this event, we setup few computers with Ubuntu Linux for public to hand-ons and try out as well as Q&A session for those who would like to know more about Ubuntu Linux. We also presenting a talk on introduction to Ubuntu Linux to the visitors.

600++ cds were distributed to participant in order to give some exposure to them about the existence of Ubuntu Linux. It was held on 26-29th of September 2005 in Kuala Lumpur.
