My work for Ubuntu
After almost 3 years working on deployment of Ubuntu in education and on LTSP at Revolution Linux, I joined Canonical to focus on Ubuntu even more. I'm now working as a Foundations team member on installer issues, networking (mostly IPv6), containers (LXC, arkose) and the installer (ubiquity, d-i). Recently I've also been involved in upstart and its related projects (libnih and mountall).
I'm also one of the two main Edubuntu contributors and an upstream developer of quite a few tools that we ship in Edubuntu (including LTSP).

Linux-Neuchâtel "Phoenix" project
I'm currently working on a project which goals are to sell computers at hardware+installation costs, what means around 200 swiss franc (~160$) with monitor+decent hardware+mouse+keyboard shipping and installation fees included.BR
They will be installed on Ubuntu (I'm working with Edgy for that) with some little modifications.BR
I'm personally working on the installation part, doing a fully automated installation CD-Rom (using debian-installer preseed scripts) and updating the CD-Rom to include some custom software from Universe as well as the latest updates.BR
The goal is to give a re-installation CD-Rom with the computers which will reinstall the computers without caring if the computer has or not an internet connection at the moment of the installation and without asking any question (the target public isn't computer expert)
Other than that I'm active in a few other teams as listed above.

Last things I did / I'm doing for Ubuntu
 * Trying to make some teachers at my school to try something else than Windows (and it worked quite well as I can show the way to do the same things we are doing on Windows but with Linux which I hope will make some people to see that there is something else than Windows and that they should at least have a look at it)
 * Testing Edubuntu and Ubuntu Feisty (I reported 2 or 3 bugs and confirmed some others)
 * A little bit of French translation for Ubuntu (more reviewing in fact)
 * Making an iso image for the Ubuntu alternate CD that includes the "swiss french" patch, then the swiss french users can install with their keyboard. (http://www.stgraber.org/?p=5) (fixed in Feisty)
 * Starting writing a little bit of python (looks like it's the most used language for ubuntu tools)
 * Writing a Pastebin command line client (http://www.stgraber.org/?cat=5) (Going to Feisty Universe)
 * Trying to be at some BOF sessions (using SIP) (I'm CET timezone, so it will be funny :) )
 * Answer question, listen to people and meetings on IRC (a really good way to learn)
 * Doing some Linux+Ubuntu introduction at school
 * Talk about Ubuntu on my blog (now part of http://ubuntuweblogs.org)

Line 49: Line 31:
What do I do with computers except Ubuntu?
 * Server admin on some dedicated servers (mainly for game servers)
 * Write some software using C# (More on Windows for school, but I'm also using Mono sometimes)
 * IPV6 tester (all my LAN are on both ipv4/ipv6, but no native IPV6 connection to the internet :( I have to use a tunnelbroker (sixxs.net)
 * Working on some websites (PHP coder)
 * Doing a lot of more or less useful PERL scripts
When it comes to computer science I've got pretty varied interests and knowledges.
I'm initially a network guy who's been managing some pretty complex networks (think IPv6, BGP, IPSEC, dual-stack firewalls, high availability and clustering) but I've also been doing quite a lot of development over the years and am upstream to quite a few software.
Line 56: Line 34:
And in real life ?
I'm 17 years old, using Linux for around 7 years.
I'm a second year student at the CPLN in Neuchâtel, learning computers.
I can just as well work on relatively low level stuff (plumbing) than on GUI (gtk/qt mostly) or web interfaces. A good example of a big mix of all of that is !WebLive as it's a service to offer full desktops over the network using containers, NX, custom GUIs and a service managing all the accounts and offering an API while having to scale quite well.
