I am the Point of Contact & Leader for Ubuntu Ohio as from April 7, 2013. Through a Delegation of Authority I am blessed to have three deputies to help lead Ohio. Currently the Lo``Co Council is a community-wide governance body I sit on.

I now have a general purpose AMD64-based laptop which utilizes Xubuntu 14.04. My Beagle``Board-xM functions as a general purpose desktop running Debian Testing on armhf except that it lacks functioning audio capability. There is a Raspberry Pi serving as a general purpose server except that I have yet to figure out why it will not handle a ZNC bouncer correctly. There is a hand-me-down desktop that requires review for potential re-use. As part of systems consolidation, evaluation as to retention and stripping for parts may occur.

An Arudino was purchased by a benefactor. I want to build an NTP receiver for WWV/WWVH signals with it perhaps. Some other project may come to mind, too. With the Ethernet shield on-hand, I have my suspicions that Contiki will be in the mix soon. Potential usage is subject to review.
As part of an unanticipated emergency relocation, other systems I had in place have been put into storage and my laptop had to back-step to the LTS for Xubuntu. This happens. Things will be resolved eventually but this will mean I'll be even harder to find via IRC. Contact via e-mail is best going forward.

About Me

Outside computing I am an Amateur Radio operator. When it comes to speaking languages other than English, I may be best considered a lapsed French speaker as my fluency is not what it once was. I am an avid Science Fiction reader who enjoys works published by Baen. I also advocate the revival in use of UUCP & FidoNet. Occasionally one could consider me a "writer".

I served previously as the Head Writer at Erie Looking Productions and presented The Burning Circle, the podcast of Ubuntu Ohio. The podcast had over one hundred episodes during its run though not all are archived. Outside the Ubuntu realm I presented for six years starting in December 2007 LISTen: An LISNews.org Podcast which dealt with more general issues in the realm of library and information science. Both podcasts were rather abruptly terminated as of December 16, 2013.

As part of an unanticipated emergency relocation, other systems I had in place have been put into storage and my laptop had to back-step to the LTS for Xubuntu. This happens. Things will be resolved eventually but this will mean I'll be even harder to find via IRC. Contact via e-mail is best going forward.

Materiel donations via this configured Amazon wishlist are graciously accepted in this time of cutbacks and continuing equipment failures. Anything received is gratefully appreciated with a cheerful heart in uncertain economic times.

I have been an Ubuntu Member since March 15, 2012.
