I am the Head Writer at Erie Looking Productions and produce The Burning Circle, the podcast of the Ohio LoCo Team. I deal with older technology and until recently operated a PowerPC running Lucid Lynx. I also utilize a SheevaPlug for back-end operations in conjunction with my netbook. I am the Point of Contact & Leader for Ubuntu Ohio as from April 7, 2013. Due to rather harsh terms of employment, a Delegation of Authority allows for three deputies to act in my stead during any prolonged absences. I am currently not absent from the role of Point of Contact due to a furlough at work but that can always change.

Tiered service levels is how I describe my view of computing. I do not currently have a working desktop so operations are split among my smartphone, the SheevaPlug, and my netbook. The netbook is not a desktop replacement by any stretch. When utilized in concert with other devices, I can get by without a desktop. I served previously as the Head Writer at Erie Looking Productions and present The Burning Circle, the podcast of Ubuntu Ohio. The podcast had over one hundred episodes since launch. Outside the Ubuntu realm I presented for six years starting in December 2007 LISTen: An LISNews.org Podcast which dealt with more general issues in the realm of library and information science. Due to the harsh terms of employment I am currently operating under, both podcasts are halted.

I now have a general purpose AMD64-based laptop which utilizes Xubuntu 14.10. My Beagle``Board-xM functions as a general purpose desktop running Debian Testing on armhf except that it lacks functioning audio capability. There is a Raspberry Pi serving as a general purpose server except that I have yet to figure out why it will not handle a ZNC bouncer correctly. There is a hand-me-down desktop that previously was in use running VectorLinux Light 7.0 that requires review for potential re-use. As part of systems consolidation, the actual hardware will require evaluation as to retention and stripping for parts may occur.

An Arudino was purchased by a benefactor. I want to build an NTP receiver for WWV/WWVH signals with it perhaps. About Me

My BeagleBoard-xM functions as a general purpose desktop running Debian Testing on armhf except that it lacks functioning audio capability.

Some other project may come to mind, too. With the Ethernet shield on-hand, I have my suspicions that Contiki will be in the mix soon. Potential usage is subject to review.

I have been an Ubuntu Member since March 15, 2012.
