Who am I

My name is Redmar, I'm 22 years old and I live in the Netherlands. I am currently a student of Theoretical Biology at the university of Utrecht.

Ubuntu

I first started playing with linux with a Knoppix live CD that came with a magazine. It was great to be able to run a system just from CD, though it alarmed the supervisor of the computer room at school a lot, and I was kicked out once I showed windows would still boot properly. Later I also installed Suse Linux on an old PC and played around on it for a bit, but never used it on anything serious. When I got my own laptop (with vista, and a windows recovery CD) I decided to try to install a version of Linux 'for real'. I tried out several distro's, including Sabayon, but I kept looking because I wanted one thing to work: Compiz, and the magical 'Cube' on your desktop. As it turned out Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon could do that, so that's what I installed on my brand new laptop.
