I installed Ubuntu about two (3) months before Ibex came out. A friend of mine was messing around with Fedora and he really liked it. Like me he comes from a desktop publishing background. We both like the macintosh OS and do not enjoy using Windows. So his vote of confidence in Linux had me intrigued. I had an old Toshiba laptop sitting around that I was not using, mostly because it had Windows on it. I installed Ubuntu and within the first few minutes I knew I was on to something. I installed Ubuntu as a dual boot and left XP on the machine, just in case. As the next few weeks went on the Windows partition got smaller and smaller. I liked Ubuntu so much that for the first time in my life I bought a computer that was not a macintosh. Now I had Linux and it was possible to have a totally pleasurable experience on a computer that cost less than two thousand dollars. Needless to say I am hooked.
