Purpose

The Launchpad Focus Group exists to help BT members educate and participate in Launchpad. Our focus groups goals are to educate users on Launchpad and to use Launchpad's tools to contribute to the Ubuntu Community.

Launchpad

Launchpad is a software collaboration platform that provides:

• Answers

• Bug Reports

• Ubuntu package building and hosting

• Blueprints

• Translations

• Code Hosting using bazaar

Getting Started

Creating an account allows you to start working within Launchpad. You can learn more about creating a Launchpad account here.

You should also consider becoming an Ubuntero by signing the Ubuntu Code of Conduct and registering an OpenPGP Key. All this can be done from your Launchpad homepage.

Answers

Launchpad Answers is a great place to find help with free software. Some of the strengths of Lunchpad Answers over other support resources are:

• tracking user questions in a similar way to bug reports
• notifying volunteer support contacts of new questions
• building a searchable knowledge base of good answers
• allowing people to ask questions and offer support in different languages.

It also serves as a simple ticketing system for tracking Launchpad admin requests.

Bugs

The two most common uses of Launchpads Bug feature by Ubuntu users is to report bugs and to triage bugs.

Member Skills

= Knowledge regarding that section of Launchpad = Knowledge about the section and a willingness to help teach other users about it
