Who I am

My name is Alice C. Munduruca, and I have been a member of the Ubuntu Kernel Team since Jul. 2025.

My Ubuntu story

My first time really using Ubuntu was when I helped out with research during university. At that time, There was a image used for testing SPEC CPU 2017 on Xenial, which was in need of updates for the architecture simulation software we were using at the time. This allowed me to learn a lot about linux, debian packaging, and more.

My involvement

I help prepare upstream stable updates for the Ubuntu kernel as well as CVE backports.

I have worked with Alice since she joined Canonical in 2025. From my experience, she has always been very sharp and quick-witted, going through the kernel team ramp-up process in record time; besides the kernel cranking, she has also put out a huge amount of CVE fix backports (several of which were non-trivial) and developed a bespoke tool for validating and automating a large part of that process, as well as prepared several stable release updates for generic kernels.

I have reviewed and sponsored several of her kernels, all of which were prepared diligently and in a timely manner, and found no issues with the vast majority of them. The only time one of her cranks had to be redone was due to an emergency respin that was pushed in between her starting and finishing the crank (essentially just unfortunate timing), and she fixed the issue very swiftly. She is also very thorough with her review of test results (having even gone as far as sending patches upstream to fix faulty tests in our RT suite) and never hesitates to reach out and ask questions on the rare occasion that she hits an issue that she can't solve herself.
