| I'm currently a sophomore Computer Science major at Chapman University in Orange, California. I live in Anaheim, CA, and am trying to start working with the CaliforniaTeam to get some local events running. I started using Ubuntu when my friend sucked me into [http://www.digg.com Digg] about a year ago, and I figured I'd finally give this "Linux" thing a try. It's pretty much been downhill from there, as I immerse myself in the command line and manage to be the only Linux user in my CompSci classes. I just got back from Ubuntu Live and OSCON, which were amazing. I had never been to a big conference before, but it was so much fun I can't wait for next year. I'm trying to get the CaliforniaTeam to get a bit more active, so any advice would be awesome. | I started using Ubuntu when my friend sucked me into [http://www.digg.com Digg] about a year ago, and I figured I'd finally give this "Linux" thing a try. I do tend to pick up things relatively quickly, which means that I'm glad there's still so much that I have to learn. I really want to start working with the CaliforniaTeam to generate some Ubuntu Spirit in Southern California. As the summer's winding down, I'm actually looking forward to being able to learn in a more formal setting, rather than poring through HowTos and O'Reilly books in the middle of the night (not that it's going to stop any time soon). I'd like to think that even though I'm generally a dork, I can press my face against the grindstone, crank up some metal, and get to work when the time comes. |

Heya!
