Clear message

This page is used by the Xubuntu Team to track ideas about what should be done for IntrepidIbex. Anyone is free to add its own suggestions, but try to keep them short. Exposing and discussing the technical implementation of an idea should not be done here, but in a separate wiki page created for this feature and tracked in launchpad. You can more information about this process on the FeatureSpecifications wiki page.

Keep ideas to a short sentence and somehow categorized.

So what do you think should be done for IntrepidIbex ?

Packaging area

  • improve quality of web application packages - MathiasGug.

  • Implement web interface for server administration: EboxSpec / SOHObuntu

  • Modularized /etc/network/interfaces (like apache2/conf.d) - AnteKaramatic

  • php5: enable test suite during build - KeesCook

  • grub: protect menu.lst from eyes of the world (chmod 640) if password is set -AnteKaramatic

  • at: remove at package from base system because it deprecated and can be replaced by cron

Testing area

  • Add testing option to server CD. Should present a list of simple, but vital things like number and nature of block devices and network interfaces detected. This makes server testing much easier than it currently is, and should thus help get more testers into the game. - SorenHansen

New Feature Suggestions

Documentation area

  • create micro-manuals on the way to configure particular services - PaulSchulz

  • add a section in ServerGuide describing how to set up thin clients. See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ThinClientHowto as a starter. NicolasBarcet

  • SQLite section.
  • Backup a remote host using Bacula.
  • Examples on how to configure applications to authenticate to LDAP, possibly:
    • Apache
    • Mediawiki

  • Update the Windows Networking Section. Maybe add recipes for specific Samba configurations:
    • Primary Domain Controller
