Xubuntu Hardy Design

For the Long Term Support cycle starting with Hardy Heron we are planning a complete re-design of the theming and artwork.

Possible issues to be tackled:

• New wallpaper --blue (already a work in progress)
• New gdm (already a work in progress)
• Usplash --wait till the guidelines will be finalized.
• Choosing a new gtk theme (perhaps some dark theme? ubuntu is planning a black gtk default theme.) Ideas are welcome.
• Choosing a new icon theme. Ideas are welcome.
• Deciding the panels and their locations --asymmetrical panels? not a good idea. Ideas?

Notes on style:

The ubuntu art design team decided that the glossy style that has been dominated ubuntu's look and feel, up till now, is not trendy any longer and they are moving toward a flatter more plastic looking visual appearance of Hardy's interface. To keep in line with the changing ubuntu spirit, I suggest, we too pursue this stylistic shift as much as possible.
