Heads up: Systemd v249 hits the archive

Lukas Märdian provides a "heads up" that Systemd v249 has been merged for Ubuntu Jammy LTS. Mentioning that it was hoped v250 would be ready (with a RC), but to be safe v249 will be used. We are told the upload is planned for 7 December 2021, and this mailing list post is asking if there are any objections. Links are provided.

Announcement: Ubuntu Accomplishments

Dani Llewellyn announces that the Ubuntu Accomplishments on the Snap Store has been completed. We are told it's a resurrection of a "project initiated by Jono Bacon and Stuart Langridge" that originally used the Ubuntu One file sync service which was shutdown. The replacement server side component is in Dart, with the viewer application written in Flutter and Dart. Links are provided.

Steam Client Now Supports VA-API Hardware Encoding on Linux, CEG DRM Games

Marius Nestor tells us Valve has released a new Steam Client update with "support for VA-API hardware encoding on Linux". With details that it can be turned off, we're also told of other improvements to various components, and bug fixes that reduce memory when "processing shader caches". A link to the release notes is provided for more details. Marius recommends "updating your Steam Client installations".
