Cyber Patriot Camp

Dwight Harp writes of the eleventh year of the Air Force Association’s sponsored Cyber Patriot Camp, in which 6,387 teams participated. The event focuses on finding cyber-system vulnerabilities and hardening the defense against them. Dwight informs us of the topics of the event in which the students were also introduced to linux through the ubuntu operating system.

Skype Snap App Finally Updated, Gets a New Icon

Joey Sneddon advises that after a long delay the popular VoIP Skype Snap app sees an update to version 8.51.0.72. In addition to improvements and bug fixes is an updated icon that conforms to Microsoft’s new ‘fluent’ design language. Joey concludes with lauding the update packaging format of Snaps with the hope of continued support for related apps.

Ubuntu MATE 18.04.3 LTS Released for GPD Pocket, Ubuntu MATE 19.04 for GPD WIN 2

Marius Nestor informs us that Ubuntu MATE 18.04.3 LTS now has support for SOFTWIN's GPD Pocket and GPD Pocket 2 gaming computers, as well as for the Topjoy Falcon mini laptop. Ubuntu MATE 19.04 (Disco Dingo) is also available for the GPD WIN 2. The download link is provided that also includes the early development release of Ubuntu MATE 19.10 (Eoan Ermine) for the GPD MicroPC. Lastly, we are informed that Ubuntu MATE 18.04.2 LTS is available for the Raspberry Pi 2, Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, and Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ single-board computers.

Ubuntu Touch OTA-10 Officially Released for Ubuntu Phones, Here's What's New

Marius Nestor announces that Ubuntu Touch OTA-10 for supported phones is released, and it ensures better compatibility for some devices like Nexus 5 by fixing camera orientation and other things. It also improves WiFi based location by removing the "wolfpack" tool. It also adds PulseAudio support for Android 7.1 devices or newer.
