Refactor with Clang Tooling at code::dive 2018

Stephen Kelly blogs about his recent talk on his refactoring tool with Clang Tooling at code::dive last November. Stephen got to demo some features which had never been seen by anyone before. For people who are already familiar with clang-tidy and clang-query, the interesting content shows new features in the clang-query interpreter command line, such as syntax highlighting and portable code completion with scrolling through results selections. The post contains numerous usage clips, and links to Stephen's presentation.

VLC 3.0.5 Released with Improved YouTube, HDR & BluRay Support

Joey Sneddon reports that VLC media player releases a new version and it has lots of features and changes. Improvements include format changes to MP4, MKV, CAF, AV1 media, better HDR support, improvements in image visuality, fixes several bugs and includes security updates. VLC 3.0.5 is presently available via a Snap install for 16.04 LTS and above releases.

Xfce4-Panel 4.13.4 Released As Another Step Towards The Xfce 4.14 Desktop

Michael Larabel tells us the recent release of  Xfce4-Panel 4.13.4 brings us closer to Xfce 4.14, which still has no firm release time-table. Michael lists some new features in this release, including a link to Simon Steinbeiß's blog should you need more details.

UBports' Ubuntu Touch OTA-7 Is Being Prepared With On-Screen Keyboard Themes

Michael Larabel advises that OTA-7 is now available for testing with an expected release next week. In addition to support for themes there are also fixes for mobile network issues, memory management, and updates to Libhybris, Mir, and the web browser. Further, we are advised there is now support to install to the Nexus 7 2013 WiFi model. A link is provided to UBports.com for more details.

NVIDIA 410.93 Linux Driver Released With Quadro RTX 8000 Support, 4.20 Kernel Compatible

Michael Larabel reports on the NVIDIA 410.93 "long lived" Linux driver release, supporting the Quadro RTX 8000 series cards. In the issues addressed in the release are support of Linux 4.20 kernel compatibility, fixes crashes in the KWin OpenGL, a fix for the Vulkan external semaphore issue, and some other minor fixes. A new option has been added for allowing restriction of GPU performance counters. More details and the download link is provided in a NVIDIA.com link.
