Xubuntu: Printable and shareable Xubuntu flyers

The Xubuntu Team announces that as part of the Wily Werewolf development, their Marketing Team have completed work on flyers which can be printed by anyone and used at conferences, jams, and other events. They say that they are available in A4 and US-letter size and licensed by CC-BY-SA meaning you are welcome to remix, transform or build using the terms of that license.

Ronnie Tucker: New Linux Kernel Vulnerabilities Fixed in Ubuntu 15.04, Users Urged to Update Now

Ronnie Tucker writes for Full Circle Magazine warning of kernel vulnerabilities for Ubuntu 15.04 in the md and vhost drivers. Patches for both vulnerabilities are already available in Ubuntu repositories.

Ronnie Tucker: Linux AIO Team Releases an All-in-One ISO Image for Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS

Rascal23 writes that Zeljko Popivoda from the Linux AIO team reports that Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS is now available for download. It is distributed as two DVD size images, for x86 (32bit) and for x86_64. Unfortunately, MATE is not included as there was no MATE 14.04.3 LTS release currently available.

Joe Liau: Do You Speak Ubuntu?

Joe Liau reflects on his recent experiences with TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling) and translates that into how community members act when advocating for Ubuntu. Based on his training, he argues that for Ubuntu to be disseminated effectively, the community needs to:

  • Make use of repetition
  • Engage all of our senses

A Slick New Set-Up Wizard Is Coming To Ubuntu

Joey-Elijah Sneddon of OMG! Ubuntu! informs us that the Ubuntu installer is going to get a “dramatic makeover” that will see Ubiquity, introduced in 2010, replaced. He shows us some screenshots of the proposed installer but says that although there are no firm plans for its introduction it may not be too long before we can try it out as the march to desktop convergence is now in full swing.

Silviu Stahie of Softpedia informs us that Ubuntu Touch is preparing for OTA-7 as the developers have decided to hit the feature freeze this week. BQ Ubuntu "Convergent" Phone Launch Slips into 2016

Silviu Stahie of Softpedia reminds us that Mark Shuttleworth said that a new “convergent” phone would be released in 2015. Silviu says that in a recent Q&A session Canonical’s Pat McGowan said that nothing official had been announced but they did want to have it next year.

Ubuntu Developers Say WhatsApp for Ubuntu Is a Chicken and Egg Problem

Silviu Stahie of Softpedia shares feedback from Ubuntu mobile users regarding one of their main gripes--lack of support for the popular WhatsApp application. Stahie reports on a quote from the Director of Tools and Applications at Canonical, Pat McGowan: "it's a chicken and egg problem. Once they are able to work with larger providers, they will come. Textsecure is getting ready to launch on Ubuntu."

Ubuntu Edge & Beyond: What We Learned from Crowdfunding

In a guest post, Canonical’s Amrisha Prashar writes that the company entered the “mature mobile ecosystem” with BQ and Meizu with the aim of changing the ecosystem game where there is a consumer reliance on the traditional app model.
