Ubuntu Online Summit

Amrisha reminds us that the next Ubuntu Online Summit [UOS] takes place between 5th and 7th May with “Three days of sessions for developers, designers, advocates, users and all members of our diverse community.” She gives us an overview of the tracks, and previews some of the highlights which include a pre-UOS keynote by Mark Shuttleworth and a Q+A session with Canonical’s CEO, Jane Silber. Amrisha says: “This is going to be perhaps one of the most important summits in recent times. After a successful launch of the phone, followed by the exciting announcement and delivery of snappy Ubuntu Core, Ubuntu is entering a new era.”

Adam Conrad on behalf on the Ubuntu Release Team follows up on an earlier End of Life warning to advise that Ubuntu 10.04 is no longer supported, that no more package updates will be accepted, and that it will be archived to old-releases.ubuntu.com in the coming weeks. He informs us of the supported upgrade path, links to the instructions and caveats for upgrades, and encourages users to evaluate the latest 14.04 LTS.
