Raring Ubuntu Developer Summit Complete!
This past week saw a lot of news coming out of sessions at the Ubuntu Developer Summit planning for the Raring Ringtail 13.04 release next May. Check out "The Planet" section of this newsletter for blog post from several Ubuntu Members who were attending, articles "In the Blogosphere" which cover some of the decisions and a few videos taken at the summer under the "Featured Audio and Video" section.

Charles Profitt, a member of the Ubuntu Community Council and lead contact for the Ubuntu New York LoCo team, talks about how a recent article made him step back and take a look at how effective Ubuntu LoCo teams are. Ohio IRC Meeting Report for November 1, 2012
Stephen Michael Kellat shares a team meeting report for a meeting led by Michael Gilbert and Cheri Francis. During this meeting the leads informed the team that the Ohio LoCo team had not been re-approved by the LoCo Council due to inactivity and lack of documentation of events and outlined steps which they are about to take to gain approval again.

Canonical Design Team: Ubuntu: Designing for a good purpose
In this blog post Ubuntu design team highlights importance of design along with their goals around designing for various form factors like mobile devices, TV and many others. They “believe access to technology is not just a luxury. It is, as these examples demonstrate, essential for satisfying basic human needs today. That’s why we consider it a human right.“

Benjamin Kerensa: On Privacy and Unity
Recently Benjamin Kerensa communicated with the Electronic Frontier Foundation in an effort to provide factual information about privacy issues in regards to the shopping lense. He believes when 13.04 hits that many who were critical of the feature will understand the bigger picture as more and more sources are added in to the results.

Jono Bacon: Ubuntu Desktop Core on 32GB Nexus 7 Tablets
Jono Bacon calls people to test Ubuntu on Nexus 7 which also runs on the newly released 32GB version of the tablet. Included in his post are instructions how to run Ubuntu on Nexus 7 and how to report a bugs if they are found during testing.

Ubuntu Looks To Improve Its Windows Installer
Michael Larabel, Phoronix, writes about discussions during the Ubuntu Developer Summit regarding Wubi, the technology used to install Ubuntu as a partition within an existing Windows installation. Larabel writes that plans include "support for burning to a USB stick, integrated CD burning of Ubuntu, a visual refresh to the user-interface, and better uninstall support" and goes on to highlight a wish list item of "having Wubi be able to handle a full-disk encrypted Windows installation."

Hybrid Graphics In Ubuntu Are Still Lackluster
Michael Larabel, Phoronix, discusses the current dismal support for hybrid graphics in Linux. One of the most interesting points raised is that kernel developers are blocking proprietary drivers from using DMA-BUF which effectively locks out proprietary drivers from being supported with hybrid graphics.

Canonical Is in a Partnership with Valve and Unity Technologies
Jason Warner gives a UDS-R interview about one of the most important Linux collaborations going in to details about how the Valve, Unity Technologies and Canonical are working on a daily basis to bring big games to Linux. Even if you do not game it is clear that this is a 'big deal' for Ubuntu and is one more step to crossing the chasm.
