Xubuntu, Kubuntu, and Edubuntu 12.04 will be LTS
Ubuntu 12.04 will be an LTS (Long Term Support) release, but it’s up to all the official flavors themselves to decide whether each will be an LTS release or not. The Technical Board approved plans for at 3 year LTS for Xubuntu and 5 year LTS for Kubuntu and Edubuntu during its meeting on January 9th. Just For Learning: an online classroom from Ubuntu Nederland
A dedicated team from the Nederland LoCo has developed a web-based application similar to the well known Lernid application that the describe as perfectly suited to conduct on-line training sessions. It is currently available in English and in Dutch.

Setting Up a Single Node OpenStack Nova Server
Jeff Kramer with HP announces the publishing of a step-by-step guide for installing OpenStack Compute aka Nova. “This tutorial is for developers, who would like to set up a compute machine on local servers before deploying to the public cloud,” writes Kramer.
OpenStack Compute is a python-based VM management system and readers who are interested can find out more about installing it on a single server can find out more in this article.
Virtualization & Cloud devroom at FOSDEM
FOSDEM (The Free and Open source Software Developers’ European Meeting) will take place on February 4-5 in Brussels. In the past devrooms were kept to a half to full day, however this year FOSDEM combines Virtualization, Xen and OpenStack devroom requests into one devroom to be open for the 2 full days of the event.
