Ubuntu 12.04 to feature extended support period for desktop users

Canonical announces that the Long Term Support (LTS) versions of Ubuntu for desktop users will be supported for five years instead of three years. This change will start for the 12.04 release cycle and will help with the increasing demand for Ubuntu desktops in corporate environments.

Mini Leadership Summit at the Ubuntu Developer Summit

Jono Bacon explains in this blog post the intention of the upcoming Mini Leadership Summit scheduled to take place during the upcoming Ubuntu Developer Summit in Orlando, FL. The community survey results suggest that many people feel a sense of leadership, but also feel that improvements could be made to empower them to join in as leaders.

Ubuntu (11.10) Open Week Summary

Ubuntu Open Week for the Ubuntu 11.10 was a great success. This week of online tutorial geared toward new Ubuntu users and based on the latest Ubuntu release continued to be popular as attendees asked questions and interacted with the community and the various sessions leaders through out the week.

There were topics how to get started with Ubuntu development, translations, how to get the most out of Ask Ubuntu, become a more proficient Unity user, leadership, how to find support in Ubuntu, Ubuntu Friendly, Canonical and Community and much much more.
