Summary

Install from the Alternate CD using one of 3 partitioning methods, OEM, expert or rescue mode.

Procedure

  1. Boot using the alternate CD
    • On first boot a list of languages will appear to choose from - select one (vary your choices if possible) and press Enter
  2. Select Check CD for defects
    • Wait for self-test to complete; reboot
  3. Select 'Install in text mode' (or OEM or Rescue as appropriate)
    • OEM is accessible from the F4 menu
  4. Select your language, location, and keyboard layout
  5. Select one of the following partitioning methods: erase disk ("Guided - use entire disk"), auto-resize, manual partitioning, entire disk with encryption. See InstallMethods for details.

    • Depending on your existing disk contents, the auto-resize option may not appear.

  6. Complete the install and reboot to verify that the system works as expected using the appropriate test: ../UbuntuDesktop, ../KubuntuDesktop, ../EdubuntuDesktop, ../XubuntuDesktop, ../UbuntuStudio, ../MythbuntuDesktop
