Release Party Ubuntu 7.04 in Switzerland

We would like to throw a party to celebrate the Ubuntu 7.04 "Feisty Fawn" release, open for everybody interested.

  • Next IRC meeting in #ubuntu-ch (Freenode) Thursday April 5th at 20:30 (Swiss time).
  • (First meeting was April 2nd)

The party will take place Saturday April 21st (two days after the [wiki:FeistyReleaseSchedule scheduled release]).

Please add your suggestions and comments here:

  • Suggested locations:
  • Activities
    • Installing Feisty on everything we can find
    • Watch a DVD (Revolution OS) on a big screen
    • Ubuntu Trivia perhaps? I'm not sure what a good prize would be. --RashundaTramble

  • Infrastructure
    • 48port gigabit switch for the wired part of the LAN and possibly a local mirror server? - provided someone brings one! -- ["Netztier"]
    • a box full of Cat5 cables, 5-7m maximum. Bring your own if you have a longer one. -- ["Netztier"]
    • a 802.11a/b/g WLAN Access Point to extend the LAN into the air -- ["Netztier"]
    • WLAN AP in Client/Bridge mode to uplink to some (public) WLAN -- ["Netztier"]
    • needed: a handful of power socket multipliers/power bars (aka "Steckdosen-Leisten")
    • nice to have: blackboard/whiteboard/flipchart if not provided by the facility we'll be using
  • Yes, we will come to the party!

Comments:

  • We could try to get in touch with [http://www.thealternative.ch TheAlternative]; they organized Install Parties at the ETHZ and we could benefit from their infrastructure, if we want to organize something in Zurich. --Calimarno

  • If we do it in Zurich the dock18 maybe would be a good place. --["Emonkey"]
