The role of the mentor is to help the new member choosing and starting to contribute in an area he has interest in. The mentor provides guidance during the whole process by:
  * presenting existing procedures.
  * pointing to existing communication channels (#ubuntu-server, ubuntu-server mailing list, other IRC channels and mailing lists).
  * linking to key members of the ServerTeam and Ubuntu in general.
  * sponsoring one upload if the contribution is packaging related.
  * giving feedback to the applicant in a timely manner.

The mentor will:
  * present existing processes
  * point to existing communication channels
  * link to key members of the ServerTeam and Ubuntu in general.
  * sponsor one upload if the contribution is packaging related. Other uploads must go through the standard sponsorship process.

Even though the initial communication can be hold privately, the mentor should push for using public channels (IRC channels, existing mailing lists) in order to fully integrate the new member in the team.
Once the task has been accepted in Ubuntu, the contributor should have been in contact with the rest of the ServerTeam and should know where to ask questions.
