Notes

  1. CLOSED: Default font sizes: default font size is huge on 147 DPI display - FIXED in Dapper Beta

  2. Special keys: by default wireless and brightness keys work (as they are HW keys). - [https://launchpad.net/bugs/46948 #46948]

    • Other keys, have properly assigned xkeysyms, just that some operations do not work yet (Sleep, Battery, Presentation) as no action is assigned.

See KubuntuLaptopButtons specification for more details how this will be addressed for Edgy.

  3. KsCD: does not play audio CDs - [https://launchpad.net/bugs/30809 #30809]

    • CD/DVD works with Amarok, K3B and similar, but it does not play audio CDs with default player (KsCD). BR Workaround: Configure KsCD -> CD Player and enable "Use direct digital playback" BR If this does not work, try changing "Select audio backend:" to arts (instead of alsa).

  4. fglrx drivers from ATI: make 3D acceleration support

    • I have used the instructions listed under ["BinaryDriverHowto/ATI"]. BR Breezy: fixes hibernation (which does not work with "ati" driver) BR Dapper: fixes suspend to RAM (which does not work without workaround with "ati" driver) BR Edgy: fixes lid close screen corruption

  5. CLOSED: Dapper Flight2: eth0 down after boot - FIXED in Flight3

  6. CLOSED: Dapper Flight3-Release; Edgy Knot1/2: monitor layout not autodetected (blank screen after install) - FIXED in Edgy RC

  7. CLOSED: Dapper Flight4: ipw2200 module need hwcrypto=0 to work - FIXED in Flight6

  8. Dapper Beta-Release/Edgy RC: after opening lid, display is in wrong resolution ("ati" driver) - [https://launchpad.net/bugs/40808 40808]

    • When closing lid, display is blank as it should, but after reopening I just get completely strange resolution as I can only see what is the mouse arrow (which is approfimately 3 times the original size and streched). This is only with "ati" driver, while "fglrx" driver does not have this problem. BR Workaround: you can get back to normal by switching consoles (Ctrl-Alt-F1, Ctrl-Alt-F7).

  9. CLOSED: Dapper Beta-Release: suspend to RAM works, but resume needs help ("ati" driver) - FIXED in Edgy RC

  10. Dapper Flight4-Release: system hangs on restart of X server with fglrx - [https://launchpad.net/bugs/30447 #30447]

    • When X server is restarted it may hang the system. This only happens with "fglrx" driver, while "ati" works as expected. BR Workaround: add (uncomment) the line TerminateServer=true in section [X-:*-Core] in /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc file

  11. CLOSED: Edgy Knot2: Desktop CD boots into white stripes - FIXED in Edgy RC

  12. Edgy RC: wrong resolution detected by Desktop CD

    • When Desktop CD boots, I get 1024x768 resolution instead of 1920x1200 resolution. This causes over sized usplash as well as desktop. If I install with Alternate CD, it asks me for resolution (it should probably auto detect it) and it works if 1920x1200 is specified.
