For the ATI 8.18.6 driver there is a HOWTO wich works flawlessly on the D810 so you can enable 3D acceleration. Hopefully another HOWTO will appear in the near future wich will tell us what to do for the 8.18.8 drivers.
[http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=82832 The Forum]
[http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=78466 The HOWTO]
- IMPORTANT!: The machine won't stand up from hibernation using the ATI 8.18.6 drivers, so if you need that option, use driver "ati" instead of "fglrx"!
- ATI drivers crash on D810 models with 1280x1050 phys res. (Added by Nikratio)
- ATI 8.16.20 driver extends the desktop, but it still breaks hibernation. (Thanks to Jeff, tested on a D810 with Radeon X600)
Hibernate with the docking station is working fine, however after restoring the USB devices are not recognised. (Thanks to Per Arne Nilssen) [http://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/show_bug.cgi?id=14877 #14877]
Touchpad scrolldown side can be enabled following this forum post: [http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=78904&highlight=ALPS Howto]
- First of all you must do this: cat /proc/bus/input/devices, then you get something like this:
- I: Bus=0011 Vendor=0002 Product=0008 Version=6337
N: Name="AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint"
- P: Phys=isa0060/serio1/input0
- H: Handlers=mouse1 event2 ts2
- B: EV=f
- B: KEY=420 0 70000 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
- B: REL=3
- B: ABS=1000003
Search for the "H: Handlers=mouse1 event2 ts2" and append your /etc/X11/xorg.conf like this:
Section "InputDevice"
- Identifier "ALPS"
- Driver "synaptics"
Option "AlwaysCore"
- Option "Device" "/dev/input/event2"
- Option "Protocol" "event"
NOTE THE "/dev/input/event2" LINE, THAT'S THE KEY TO THE SUCCESS. If you did everything in the howto above, restart X and try the scrolling. You can adjust the scrolling area of the touchpad in xorg.conf, refer to the forum Howto above.
