About Me

Hi I'm Sam Azab born (1979), on a crusade to show people the power of Ubuntu Linux. A Computer Science graduate (1999) originally, but have since indulged into the managerial/administration side of IT implementation. Born to Egyptian parents with the mind of a Planetariun. I believe we as a species must better ourselves not just for us, but for the entire Earth as well.

Ubuntu Usage

Started with Ubuntu Feisty (7.04) when it first was released. I must say I have stuck with this distribution ever since. Running Ubuntu Server on a P3 box, just as a file server. My main workstation cpu[Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz SMP (2 processors), 2992.688 MHz (11975.84 bogomips) | chipset[Intel Corporation 82875P/E7210 Memory Controller Hub (rev 02)] | video[nVidia Corporation NV40 [GeForce 6800 GT] (rev a1) at 1680x1050 (32 bits)] | opengl[GeForce 6800 GT/AGP/SSE2].

Translations

As a native Arabic speaker, I've done the odd translation for Ubuntu, Ubuntu Tweak, Deluge BitTorrent and Griffith.

Support

I provide tech support/installation assistance in #linpeople, #ubuntu on Efnet, alias HardDisk. As well as my favorite network Freenode #ubuntu-eg (The official Ubuntu Egypt channel), #eglug (The official Egypt LUG channel) also as HardDisk. So pop in at anytime and let's fix something

Promoting Ubuntu

I have distributed self copied and official ubuntu cd's (which have been shipped to me whenever possible) to approximately 73 people so far. I have been successful in implementing Ubuntu as a server for three corporate soho users, as well as 19 individuals as a Desktop replacement (not including 4 of my neighbors).

Goals

To keep fighting the good fight, and maybe one day with the little work I've done might be officially considered an Ubuntu member.
