PierreVorhagen
Hi!
My blog
I was born December 1988 in Belgium. I study a Bachelor of Science in Business Engineering at HEC-ULg Management School, graduate college of the Liège university. My real name is Pierre Vorhagen and my hometown is Eupen, capital of the German-speaking community but I spend most of the week in Liège. I lived three and a half years in Newcastle in the UK, and five years in Châteauroux, in France. This pretty much makes me fluent in English, French and German. I’ve been learning Spanish since a couple of years now and I’m looking forward to go there for an Erasmus student exchange.
Computers and technology have always been a passion and I discovered Linux in 2005, trying a Knoppix Live-CD. I then tried Damn Small Linux on an old PC, sticked with Debian for a month after experimenting with several other distributions, and finally found Ubuntu. As you might have guessed, although I still use Debian on my desktop, I chose Ubuntu as my daily distribution.
I started contributing very early but without much community contact via IRC, helping people on #ubuntu-fr mostly and contributing to doc.ubuntu-fr.org. Later I subscribed to Launchpad for Rosetta and did translations, still without being part of any team or such. I rapidly discovered LoCo teams, and got involved in Ubuntu-be. With the marketing team I contributed to the revival of the SpreadUbuntu project and did some other things here and there… More local Ubuntu activities followed, working on the ubuntu-be site and Ubuntu advocacy on my campus, until I stepped back end 2008 to focus on my studies. Things are going to stay this way at least until mid 2010, then we’ll see… =)
