Ubuntu Persian Translation

About the Team

Ubuntu Persian Translation (UPT) team is a group of translators, which like to translate Ubuntu distros to Persian. If you are interested follow on to see how you can help us.

Please note that we are only a translation team. Many of interested people in Persian translation projects don't live in Iran, or don't have enough spare time to attend local meetings, help end-users, etc. Please just focus on translation issues in this team.

Fortunately, ubuntu-ir, the Ubuntu Iranian Local Community team has been set up, and the website [http://ubuntu-ir.org/ ubuntu-ir.org] will be up soon. Please help the Iranian Local Team to attract end-users, set up local events, etc. Find more info at IranianTeam page.

How to Translation

  • You should read [http://www.persianacademy.net/fa/dastourkhat.aspx Persian Academy Guideline (دستور خط فارسی)] first of all. The online version has encoding problems; uses Arabic Yeh, etc. You can buy the printed version from their bookstore on 3rd avenue, Bokharest St., Tehran.

  • Also that's better to read discussions on the web, mailing lists, bugzilla's, etc. [FIXME: links needed]
  • Study the current translations. Looking at the glossary and links.

  • Then you start to contribute. You can started by reviewing others translations, to learn, and to improve quality of their translations. You can ask question on the mailing list or on the IRC channel.

TODO

  • (Will be moved to ["/TODO"] later)

  • Creating a glossary, based on translation of other FOSS projects: [FIXME: links needed]
