Goals for 2008-09

  • Expand local area meet-ups
    • Rochester (complete)
      • events planned through the end of 2009
    • Rockland County (pending)
      • meeting held, but future plans still not worked out
    • Syracuse (complete)
      • local group has held early meetings and have a plan to continue to grow
    • Fingerlakes (pending)
      • local group is holding its first meetup to discuss how to proceed as a LUG with guidance from ausimage
    • Ithaca (pending)
      • in the process of working with IFSA and several local contacts about forming a LUG or holding Ubuntu/FOSS related presentations

  • Develop relationship with RCSI (Rochester) (complete)

    • Person leading the RCSI Linux SIG is a member of the NY State LoCo

  • Develop relationship with LUGOR (Rochester) (complete)

    • cprofitt is currently acting as the lead contact person and organizer for LUGOR
    • several events have been co-sponsored with LUGOR

  • Develop relationship with Ithaca Free Software Association (Ithaca) (complete)

    • Members of the LoCo helped man the IFSA booth at EdTech Day 2009 at Ithaca College and cprofitt gave a presentation at the request of the IFSA

  • Develop relationship with local computer retailers
    • have spoken with JNCS about providing demo boxes for Rochester events
  • Host/Co-Host install fests
    • holding an install fest with LUGOR on May 30th 2009
  • Host informational classes via community adult education programs
