About me

I am a 23-year-old boy living in Guastalla (RE), a little city in Northern Italy.

My main interests are GNU/Linux and kernel development, but i love [http://www.nba.com/lakers/ basketball] too.

About Ubuntu

My first try with Ubuntu was on a friend's webserver. He was unhappy of Windows 2000 Server, so he asked me to help him to setup a GNU/Linux-based platform. He had an Ubuntu CD so we decided to install it. I was so impressed of its features so I decided to use it on my box too.

Ubuntu and me

After many years with Debian, I feel "at home" with Ubuntu. It is one of the best distribution I have ever seen with unique features: up-to-date software, frequent updates, nice look & feel and, most of all, a great community behind the entire project. Some times ago, when I noticed a [https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.15/+bug/50610 strange behaviour], I received good feedbacks and I was able to fix the bug quickly.

Ubuntu and business

I work as an accountant in a big enterprise in Northern Italy, but I am responsible for IT-related matters too. We needed to upgrade our internal servers based on Windows NT in order to achieve better performances. Ubuntu was my choice and now it manages e-mails, file storage and serves as PDC, but we are planning to migrate [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAP_R/3 SAP R/3], our ERP application, to a GNU/Linux-based platform. With this solution we reduced noticeably our IT total cost of ownership and we achieved a better overall security and stability.

My engagement with Ubuntu

See my [https://launchpad.net/~dktrkranz Launchpad profile].

Bugs

As a member of BugSquad and DesktopTeam, I am going to help developers by reducing the number of unconfirmed bugs.

Support

As Support Contact, I am trying to help people by answering at their support requests.

Wiki and Documentation

I am contributing to write [https://help.launchpad.net/SupportTrackerDocumentation Support Tracker Documentation] page in order to provide users a quick reference to the support tracker. My main work concerns [https://help.launchpad.net/SupportTrackerTour Support Tracker Tour] page, a quick tour of the main features provided by the tracker with some useful screenshots.

I am writing /QuickFixes, a page which is meant to give users a quick solution to some issues I have found in Ubuntu.

My engagement with Ubuntu Italian Community

See my [http://wiki.ubuntu-it.org/LucaFalavigna page] on the Ubuntu-it Wiki.

I am an active member of [http://forum.ubuntu-it.org Ubuntu Italian Forum], where I try to help new users to solve their issues.

I am [https://launchpad.net/people/ubuntu-it-forum moderator] of the Ubuntu Italian Forum.
