| * Jabber: dktrkranz@jabber.linux.it * IRC: dktrkranz on network irc.azzurra.org * IRC: dktrkranz on network irc.freenode.org = About Ubuntu = My first try with Ubuntu was on a friend's webserver. He was unhappy of Windows 2000 Server, so he asked me to help him to setup a Linux-based platform. He had an Ubuntu CD so we decided to install it. I was so impressed of its features that I decided to use it on my box too. === Ubuntu and me === After many years with Debian, I feel "at home" with Ubuntu. It is one of the best distribution I have ever seen with unique features: up-to-date software, frequent updates, nice look & feel and, most of all, a great community behind the entire project. Some times ago, when I noticed a [https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.15/+bug/50610 strange behaviour], I received good feedbacks and I was able to fix the bug quickly. === Ubuntu and business === I work as an accountant in a big enterprise in Northern Italy, but I am responsible for IT-related matters too. We needed to upgrade our internal servers based on Windows NT in order to achieve better performances. Ubuntu was my choiche and now it manages e-mails, file storage and PDC, but we are planning to migrate [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAP_R/3 SAP R/3], our ERP program, to a Linux-based platform. With this solution we reduced noticeably our IT total cost of ownership and we achieved a better overall security and stability. = My engagement with Ubuntu = See my [https://launchpad.net/people/dktrkranz/ Launchpad profile]. === Bugs === As a new member of BugSquad and DesktopTeam, I am going to help developers by reducing the number of unconfirmed bugs. * See [https://launchpad.net/people/dktrkranz/+subscribedbugs bugs] I am subscribed. ===== New bugs filed ===== * [https://launchpad.net/products/launchpad-support-tracker/+bug/61737 #61737] * [https://launchpad.net/products/launchpad-support-tracker/+bug/62425 #62425] * [https://launchpad.net/products/malone/+bug/67359 #67359] ===== Triaged bugs ===== * [https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/beep/+bug/44832 #44832] * [https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/usplash/+bug/60393 #60393] * [https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gaim/+bug/60921 #60921] === Support === I am trying to help people by answering at their support requests. * See [https://launchpad.net/people/dktrkranz/+tickets tickets] I am involved in. === Specifications === Here is a list of specifications I am involved in: * ["cdrkit"] * LinuxKernelCrashDumpSpec * RapidReboot === Wiki === I am contributing to write SupportRequests page in order to provide users a quick reference to the support tracker.
