Problems in the most current stable (6.06 LTS, "Dapper Drake") and development (6.10, "Edgy Eft") branches
This section describes problems I have experienced while running Ubuntu Edgy on this laptop. Unless otherwise noted (in the section below), they also apply to Ubuntu Dapper. For more information please see the individual reports.
- Fingerprint reader not working
- Hard drive shock protection not providing feedback/not working
If laptop was connected to the X4 Ultrabase dock at boot time, then suspend-to-ram hangs the machine; see Launchpad bug [https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/30410 #30410] -- MichaelShulman
Problems resolved in the most current stable branch (6.06 LTS, "Dapper Drake")
This section describes problems that are in previous stable releases but have been fixed in the most current stable release.
Volume Hotkeys do not show on display. It seems that installing tpb should solve this, but it doesn't, probably due to a combination of Launchpad bugs [https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/341 #341], [https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/446 #446] and [https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/589/ #589]. -- Resolved in Dapper Flight 6.
The NumLk (at the top right of the keyboard) and back and forward browse buttons (at the bottom right of the keyboard) do not work out of the box (OOTB). You should follow the instructions at http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Installing_OpenSUSE_10.0_on_a_ThinkPad_X41#Numlock_and_Browse_keys , which essentially amount to inserting three lines into ~/.Xmodmap then executing xmodmap -verbose ~/.Xmodmap. -- Resolved in Dapper post-Flight 6.
