Current Issues
I'll be updating this page with all the changes and test and solutions that i do with this laptop and Ubuntu.
Atheros card radio doesn't work out of the box because having a key to enable/disable it. That key is only enabled thru software, using a Power Managment program under Windows. You have to enable the wifi radio calling to an specific port that is only available debugging and disassembling pm.exe (really hard to do). But for this laptop, and thanks to the work of some linux users, we can use a kernel module for amilo 1655g (thanks to the author!!!, a big hug there):

NetworkManager 0.6.2 doesn't fully work. It attaches to the ap, but dhcp doesn't get an ip. I'm seeking for a solution about this (any tips are always welcome :-D )
Ati drivers works perfectly with Radeon X200 that comes with the notebook. Right now, using 8.27.8 resolves lots of problems with gdm hardlocks. After the latest update of libmesa, i can run XGL and compiz too.
CPU frequency scaling works after doing modprobe p4_clockmod and adding it to /etc/modules. This cpu have 8 steps, from 200Mhz to 1600Mhz. I suggest to install frequtils and edit the /etc/default/frequtils (look for the correct name of the file on synaptic, i'll edit it later) and change the options for min freq= 800000, and max=1600000, or the system will respond very slow and sluggish.
But after some time of using it, and because celeron doesn't support voltage to be stepped, i choose to not use it anymore. System works really fast and great this way.
IMPORTANT
Looks like the laptop have some problems with IO-APIC option enabled on the kernel. So, be sure to boot ubuntu editing the kernel line and adding "noapic" on it. This way, you won't have any usb freeze using DRI, and the system will work much better.
