Current Issues
I'll be updating this page with all the changes and test and solutions that i do with this laptop and Ubuntu.
Atheros card radio doesn't work out of the box because having a key to enable/disable it. That key only works on software. The workaround is installing the latest Madwifi driver from [http://www.madwifi.org Madwifi]. Remove linux-restricted-modules$(uname -r). It just caused me problems. Then install linux-headers-$(uname -r). After that follow this instructions to install official madwifi drivers: http://madwifi.org/wiki/UserDocs/FirstTimeHowTo
Once it is installed, the trick is to make the driver bypass the hardware lock by the button and always have radio on. At the step to introduce the command: modprobe ath_pci, instead of that, do: modprobe ath_pci rfkill=0. To make it load on startup, edit /etc/modprobe.d/options and add: options ath_pci rfkill=0
NetworkManager 0.6.2 doesn't work with original madwifi drivers. Hope new versions comes up with that fixed.
Ati drivers works perfectly with Radeon X200 that comes with the notebook. The thing is: the actual drivers with ubuntu 2.6.15-25 makes usb ports freeze, and ethernet and wlan connections. Better wait for a bugfix, searching ubuntuforums.org from time to time, or just install any other version after 8.25.8
CPU frequency scaling works after doing modprobe p4_clockmod and adding it to /etc/modules. This cpu have 8 steps, from 200Mhz to 1600Mhz. I suggest to install frequtils and edit the /etc/default/frequtils (look for the correct name of the file on synaptic, i'll edit it later) and change the options for min freq= 800000, and max=1600000, or the system will respond very slow and sluggish.
