Current Issues

The install locks up if "linux noapic" is not entered at the boot prompt, bug [http://launchpad.net/bugs/36983 #36983]. After installation, the screen goes black and xorg.conf has to be edited in a virtual terminal (*1) bug [http://launchpad.net/bugs/22985 #22985]. These are still issues in Dapper also.

Notes

  • *1 added line to Monitor section of xorg.conf ("Option "MonitorLayout" "LVDS,AUTO")

  • *2 custom dsdt table, beforehand, it did not work in Hoary
  • *3 Custom 2.6.12-kernel-compiled with intel HDAudio (did not work before)
    • Please can you check with latest dapper (2.6.15...) and reconfirm. -PaulSladen

    • Sound works otob (except Volume) in dapper -Tormod

  • *4 Custom 2.6.12-kernel-compiled with ipw2200 1.0.4 + added firmware ipw2.3 (did not work before)
  • *5 Could only boot with noapic, it seems this causes pcmcia to crash on bootup
    • Is this noapic or nolapic ? -PaulSladen

    • noapic, for sure, had to do it on several laptops. -Beat Wolf, asraniel@fryx.ch

    • noapic, see bug report -Tormod

  • *6 added manually in keyboard shortcuts
  • *7 needs this command(reboot afterwards): echo options ipw2200 led=1 | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/ipw2200

    • Please file against acpi-support with dmidecode data (see HotkeyResearch) and the fix here

  • *8 The wifi-enable front button does not seem to work.
    • Does here -Beat Wolf, asraniel@fryx.ch

    • Please can you both double-check this and file against acpi-support if it still doesn't work. -PaulSladen

    • im sure for breezy. downloading flight 5 now. -Beat Wolf, asraniel@fryx.ch

    • light is off, radio is on, whether I click or not -Tormod

  • *9 Only tested with the DVI output
  • *10 Has to be chosen manually during installation.
  • *11 Works as "eject cd", which is also very handy.
    • Whilst this is handy, it's wrong! Smile :) Can you file a bug hotkey-setup with the showkey -u and dmidecode information on LaptopTestingTeam/HotkeyResearch saying that the correct function should be "help". -PaulSladen

  • *12 The volume has to be unmuted in the Volume Control program
  • *13 Needs an updated DSDT to have it working. For instance, download the dsdt.tar.gz in [http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=46536 this posting], unpack and copy it in like this: sudo cp DSDT.aml /etc/mkinitramfs/; sudo dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-2.6.12-9-386

  • *14 Works with fglrx drivers
