The Ubuntu Kernel Team have adopted a No Duplicates policy with regard to bugs.

What this means is:

• 1) We would not like for bug reporters to identify bugs that appear the same instead of filing a unique bug for this issue.
  • This is due to several reasons. The most important of which being the use of slightly different or minor revisions to chipsets in otherwise identical hardware causing slightly different behavior that causes fixes to not work for nearly identical hardware. The team prefers to treat these systems as separate.
  2) We much prefer that triagers not mark duplicates of seemingly identical bugs due to the possibilities outlined above. We understand that this goes against the normal process used for other packages, and we appreciate the
