It is open to all types of people whether you are a novice or an expert. We encourage everyone to help out in any way they can by spreading the word and helping others. Ubuntu Ireland does not have a 'council' like other LoCo groups do in various countries. We prefer to have an admin team that is responsible for the daily routines/duties such as translations, artwork or creating flyers, website or wiki administration or just simply spreading the word. This can be done by anybody and if you've contributed a lot of your time and shown that you are here to help the Irish community you can become part of the core team. We hope that people will contribute to such projects as [[http://www.camara.ie|Camara]] - building up old PC's with Edubuntu and shipping them over to Africa. == Our Initiatives == |

| == Ubuntu Ireland Management Structure == === Basic Structure === Ubuntu Council is the main governing body. There is also Ubuntu Ireland Members who are given voting rights in recognition of services to Ubuntu Ireland. | === Ubuntu Ireland Council === Ubuntu Ireland council is made up of 10 people maximum. It is the main body of which the direction of Ubuntu Ireland is formulated. Motions are debated and then an official position is decided. Council Members put forward motions, based on what the hear from the members. Official communication between Ubuntu Foundation and its Irish operation are council responsibilities. |

| === Ubuntu Ireland Members === These are a dedicated group of people who have helped Ubuntu Ireland. Membership decisions are bestowed by the council after a pre-existing member has recommended someone. Memberships are decided upon or deffered at council meetings. Members are given voting rights on leadership of the council and decisions the council cannot decide on, which it has reffered to the members. This gives members a good say in the role and direction of Ubuntu Ireland. Members cannot directly propose motions, but can get a council member to do so on their behalf. == Artwork == Consists of the main banner as per top of this wiki page (ubie_481_125.png) There is also a smaller one (ubie_192_192.png) for using in one's mugshot and at the ubie launchpad page http://launchpad.net/~ubie. attachment:ubie_192_192.png There is also a (ubie_16_16.png) mini-icon for use on launchpad for team recognition and user awareness. attachment:ubie_16_16.png *note that the main banner size may vary according to website style* == IRC Channel == #Ubuntu-ie on irc.freenode.net == Support us! == Show your support for an Irish team by posting in forums below: Ubuntu Official Forums http://ie.ubuntuforums.org/ == Contact == * derrymurray@gmail.com (Loco Team Point of Contact) * irc.freenode.net #ubuntu-ie |

Welcome to the Ubuntu Ireland LoCo Team Wiki page. We will give you an idea of how we operate, make decisions, organise and contact information. Check http://www.ubuntu-ie.org from time to time for the latest news.
This group is for anyone in Ireland who is interested in or uses Ubuntu, Edubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Gobuntu, Ubuntu Studio, Ubuntu JeOS or any other derivatives that may happen in the future.
We hope that people will contribute to such projects as Camara - building up old PC's with Edubuntu and shipping them over to Africa.
