| * Help maintain CouchDB and RabbitMQ in Ubuntu. |
My launchpad page is here https://launchpad.net/~statik
My own site is here http://elliotmurphy.com
Ubuntu MOTU Hopeful, former MySQL developer, former Launchpad developer, Bazaar advocate.
Summary of my Ubuntu contributions: learning Packaging, Bugfixing, Loco team organizing, speaking at conferences, advocating for Ubuntu and open source generally.
Here are some reasons that I think I qualify as an Ubuntu Member:
- Helping to track down python2.6 compatibility problems with python packages in Jaunty, reporting bugs and learning how to provide debdiffs.
- Advocated and coached the RabbitMQ team on getting RabbitMQ into Ubuntu.
- I am the maintainer for rescuetime-linux-uploader and am working on packaging it for Ubuntu
- I am trying to look after protobuf in jaunty (requesting syncing from debian when appropriate, fixing build problems, and looking out for patches from upstream)
- I run nightly builds of Bazaar for Ubuntu in the bzr-nightly-ppa PPA.
- I packaged python-coverage for ubuntu, but abandoned it to sync with Lars Wirzenius python-coverage package that was written at the same time for Debian.
- I am a developer on the Drizzle project (MySQL fork). This is not in Ubuntu yet (no binary releases yet) but it will be soon.
- I used to be a Launchpad developer.
I have written an experimental extension to Apache, ProxyPassReverseMatch, which can be found in my PPA. This kind of activity contributes to Ubuntu's reputation as a good platform for software development.
I have given talks on using PPAs and Ubuntu at BarCamp Miami 2008, and BarCampOrlando 2008.
I have given talks on using Launchpad at BarCamp Orlando 2007.
I helped organize the Ubuntu Florida LoCo Team.
- Attended and participated in UDS Boston 2007 and UDS Mountainview 2008.
- Generally I vastly prefer to do all my development work on Ubuntu, and encourage everyone that I work with formally or informally to support Ubuntu better.
My plans and ideas for Ubuntu in the near and far future:
- Help maintain CouchDB and RabbitMQ in Ubuntu.
- Keep learning to fix bugs, particularly in python and erlang packages.
- Continue working for Canonical on making Ubuntu better
- Continue working in my personal time to make Ubuntu the best software development platform in the WORLD!
- Get nightly builds of CouchDB on Ubuntu going in a PPA
- Get Drizzle into Ubuntu
- Record some screencasts
- Don't spend time on IRC that would be better spent writing code or fixing bugs.
