Introduction
- This page is intended to be the Ubuntu GNU/Linux Local Community LOCO Egyptian team page. This page should help distribute and increase the knowledge of GNU/Linux and open source software, and show how it is becoming a key player in the IT market for personal and professional use. Everyone is a key player in this LOCO team for the development of GNU/Linux in Egypt, and to expand the use and assist in the migration to open source power. Our purpose as a team from now on is to market the abilities of Ubuntu as a powerful operating system and help people in migrating from other operating systems. We will conduct frequent trainings on how to use Linux, stressing its ease of use. We will also make installation festivals every six months following each new release.

just join our mailing list and add your self to the Members list then request an add to the launchpad. And then you will be a member of our team, congrats!
How to Contribute
- First of all by joining our mailing list and attend the meetings which will be conducted over irc that will be announced frequently over this page then try to fulfill what will be agreed upon during the meetings from strategy and events to maximize the benefit of the community.
Projects
- Our most important task at the current time is to introduce GNU/Linux, specifically Ubuntu to the as many people as possible in the Egyptian community. We will achieve this by distributing large amounts of Ubuntu master CDs. This will cost money due to Egyptian taxes, but will help market Ubuntu here since has very few original CD's in the market.
Goals for year 2008
- Help the team grow in technical ability and size. Become an Approved LoCo team. Being mentioned in the media as Ubuntu and as a LOCO team. ( Lo3'at el 3asr magazine mentioned Ubuntu and Kubuntu in an article and they offered Kubuntu CD's for free in 2007) Be able to switch 100 persons at least by the end of this year to Ubuntu. ( around 150 were switched in 2007) Organize an installation fest. (09/03/2008 planned) Start Linux trainings on a professional level.

- 18/07/2009 Created group ubuntu-eg on facebook. 06/03/2008 An agreement has been reached between the LOCO team and KEY & ACES organizations to hold an event every Saturday in the faculty of Engineering Ain shams University with a new subject every time and these events will be public so spread the word guys.. 03/05/2007 #ubuntu-eg is now our official irc channel 07/05/2007 http://www.ubuntu-eg.org is now ours and it directs to our wiki page. 20/06/2007 Ubuntu Egypt mailing list is created.
