The Ubuntu Developer Membership Board operates on the following basis:
The list of the Developer Membership Board members can be found on Launchpad. The term for DMB membership is 2 years.
You can reach the board by emailing devel-permissions@lists.ubuntu.com. This mailing list is public (devel-permissions@ archives) and our general process and policy discussions are public; if exceptionally private communication is required, such as discussing the performance of an individual, then use the private list at developer-membership-board@lists.ubuntu.com.
Or you can discuss developer application matters on IRC at #ubuntu-devel.
Application process
The Ubuntu Developer Membership Board currently approves Contributing Developers (Ubuntu Membership), per-package uploaders, SRU Developers, MOTU and Core Developers. To apply, please follow this process.
The following changes were agreed on:
devel-permissions@lists.ubuntu.com list will used
- invitations/applications go there as well as to relevant team list
- all approvals go to ubuntu-devel@ (meeting minutes) and devel-permissions@ (individual outcomes) (maybe also to the team list)
The implementation of the application process might vary across teams slightly, but we expect the following very general procedure:
- documentation,
- declaring intent,
- discussion with applicant,
- public announcement
Delegation
The DMB currently delegated approval privileges to
the Desktop team -- Policy
the Kubuntu team -- Policy
the Mythbuntu team --Policy
the Kernel team -- Policy
This delegation includes individual per-package upload privileges for packages which are in the corresponding team package set.
Meeting
The DMB currently meets every two weeks in #ubuntu-meeting on Monday alternating between 13:00 UTC and 15:30 UTC. See agenda and meeting minutes.
