This is the Dallas, TX, USA Local Community Team.

News

  • Working the Free Software Freedom Day event (FSFD for short) to raise awareness for open source towards September.

  • Join us on the forums (http://dallas.ubuntu-us.org/) and help contribute ideas for the event!

Initiatives

  • To spread knowledge of Ubuntu to the general public
  • To provide free community support services to existing Ubuntu users through:
    • Contact via the Team Members list
    • Contact via the #ubuntu-dallas Freenode IRC channel

  • Integration with the North Texas Linux User Group ([http://www.ntlug.org NTLUG]) to provide a seamless and user friendly local support environment for hobbyists , professionals, and those new to Linux and Ubuntu.

  • For community Ubuntu support in the Dallas area please see "The Team" list below and contact one of the available members.
  • Check out the forums and post a message for support.

Meetings

  • The Dallas Team will occasionally organize to socialize, discuss ideas, share information, and help each other.
  • Location: Schumaker and Hardt on Independence and 15th Street in Plano, TX.

  • Scheduled according to member interest currently
  • Trying to organize a regular meeting to make sure involvement is active

Education

  • Introduce [http://www.edubuntu.org Edubuntu] into Dallas area schools.

  • Tentative plans on recycling old computers for recycling to donate to a Dallas area school for charity.
