This is the Dallas, TX, USA Local Community Team.

Working the Software Freedom Day event (SFD for short) to raise awareness for open source towards September.
Join us on the forums (http://dallas.ubuntu-us.org/) and help contribute ideas for the event!
Our home page is down for now. In the meantime, please use IRC: #ubuntu-dallas on Freenode to communicate.

To spread knowledge of Ubuntu to the general public
To provide free community support services to existing Ubuntu users through:
- Contact via the Team Members list
- Contact via the #ubuntu-dallas Freenode IRC channel
Integration with the North Texas Linux User Group ([http://www.ntlug.org NTLUG]) to provide a seamless and user friendly local support environment for hobbyists , professionals, and those new to Linux and Ubuntu.
Unification with the Ubuntu-Texas team members.

The Dallas Team will occasionally organize to socialize, discuss ideas, share information, and help each other.

Trying to organize a regular meeting to make sure involvement is active
Next meeting: August meet is in the works, visit our site and decide the next location!

Introduce [http://www.edubuntu.org Edubuntu] into Dallas area schools.
Tentative plans on recycling old computers for recycling to donate to a Dallas area school for charity.
