General Membership / Jedi
Beginning team members are expected to adhere to the Ubuntu Code of Conduct. Furthermore, people in leadership positions are in addition expected to adhere to the Ubuntu Leadership Code of Conduct.
Although not a strict requirement, members are encouraged to contribute to the Greater Ubuntu Community and eventually become Ubuntu Members.

Jedi Council
Create and Discuss Team rules, regulations and standards. Voting members of the Jedi Council consist of five Beginners Team members hand chosen by bodhi.zazen, and approved by the rest of the team. Jedi masters and knights may participate in the discussions. Every attempt will be made to govern by consensus, but in the event of urgent issues or when action must be taken without a consensus opinion, /BodhiZazen will cast the decisive vote.
- Council Responsibilities
- Team administration.
IRC behavior at BeginnersTeam/IRC.
- In general, regulations are proposed by the council, then approved during monthly Beginner Team meetings.
- Quality control ~ The stalking team, for example, should report any concerns to the council.
- Resolve intrateam conflicts.
- Monitor the Focus Groups.
- Resolve intragroup conflicts.

Padawan
Padawan is used to identify people interested in joining the Beginner Team. It is generally agreed that seeking membership is a dynamic process, without strict guidelines. Each candidate is considered on his or her merits, and some members will naturally progress through the membership process faster or slower then others.
The padawan focus group is charged with assisting padawan such that this process goes as smoothly as possible.

Now that you are a padawan ...
Meet & greet. This is an important first step , does the potential new member mesh well with the team ?
- Once it becomes apparent someone is interested / dedicated, a BT member "sponsors" them as a padawan.
- Measuring up ~ The quiz is administered to assess general knowledge base and ensure potential new members are competent.
- Padawan are brought up to speed on how the team functions, personal wiki pages, GPG signed CoC, etc.
- Once masters feel they are ready, potential new members will then be nominated for a team approval at team meetings.
The new user focus group will provide oversight and guidance so that the process of membership goes as smooth as possible.
During the initiation, the Sangha will be assessing the padawan.
Jedi Fellows
Beginning team members who are also Ubuntu Members qualify as Fellows. The use of Fellows is intended to encourage and acknowledge Ubuntu Membership and does not grant any special powers or privileges on the Beginner Team.
