Process
If you are interested in joining the Ubuntu Beginners Team, follow the following steps.
Read the introduction on the BeginnersTeam homepage and look over the various pages listed in the wiki header to ensure that this is the right team for you. You should pay special attention to the Focus Group pages, and decide which Focus Group you would be interested in working with.
Subscribe to the mailing list to ensure that you remain up-to-date with what the team is doing.
Send an Email to the mailing list introducing yourself and stating which Focus Group you wish to work with. Be sure to include the names of any Ubuntu teams you have worked with, along with how long you have been working with them. Below is an example template which you can use:

Have an account on Launchpad
Have a wiki page describing yourself and your contributions.
Have at least one recommendation from someone outside of the Beginners Team who can attest to the quality of your contribution. This testimonial should be placed on your wiki page. An example testimonial looks like this:
