About Me

I'm a C and Perl hacker, living in [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portland%2C_Oregon Portland]. I'm the architect of the Parrot virtual machine, and hope to eventually see Parrot running as a lightweight interpreter for multiple dynamic languages (Python, Perl, Ruby, PHP) in [https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MobileAndEmbedded UME]. I'm conference chair for O'Reilly's open source conference [http://conferences.oreillynet.com/os2007/ OSCON], which runs concurrently with [http://www.ubuntulive.com/ Ubuntu Live].

I started using Linux in 1999 (via the gateway drug of Mac OS X): primarily Slackware, then Debian, and finally Ubuntu. I experimented with other distros along the way, but encountered the Goldilocks Dilemma.
