About Me

I'm a C and Perl hacker, living in Portland. I'm the architect of the Parrot virtual machine, and hope to eventually see Parrot running as a lightweight interpreter for multiple dynamic languages (Python, Perl, Ruby, PHP) in UME. I'm conference chair for O'Reilly's open source conference OSCON, which runs concurrently with Ubuntu Live.

I started using Linux in 1999 (via the gateway drug of Mac OS X): primarily Slackware, then Debian, and finally Ubuntu. I experimented with other distros along the way, but encountered the Goldilocks Dilemma.
