 * Help those who are not (yet) MOTU, enthusiasts and hopefuls, to contribute to universe and multiverse. It includes REVU and uploads sponsoring. As a MOTU I will try to do that :)

Adrien Cunin, aka Adri2000.

Introduction

I am a 16 years old student living in France and have been using Ubuntu since hoary, when I really began to use Linux on my desktop.

My first contribution to Ubuntu was translation at the end of the dapper cycle. For edgy, I started packaging (thanks [https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Gauvain Gloubiboulga]'s sessions in #ubuntu-fr-classroom :-]) and bug triaging.

Main contributions to Ubuntu

Packaging

I package some new programs, try to fix bugs, help with merges/syncs, make sure that the programs in universe and multiverse are not out of date.

Some points I feel important:

  • Collaboration with Debian: report as much bugs as possible in Debian to avoid useless merge workload (and also to improve Debian in the meantime Smile :) )

  • QA: I mean look for important bug fixes available in Debian, fix unmet deps or other easy-to-fix bugs (such as rebuilds) that makes a package unusable, etc. *before* the release Smile :)

  • Help those who are not (yet) MOTU, enthusiasts and hopefuls, to contribute to universe and multiverse. It includes REVU and uploads sponsoring. As a MOTU I will try to do that Smile :)

Thanks to [https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Gauvain Gloubiboulga] who is my main mentor/sponsor and also to [https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DanielTChen crimsun]. Another thanks to [https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MichaelBienia geser] for uploading some of my packages since he is a MOTU Smile :) My other sponsors include [https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BarrydeFreese bddebian] and [https://wiki.ubuntu.com/JeremieCorbier Toadstool].

New packages

For these packages, I always contact upstream when doing the initial packaging; it's easier to maintain a package when having good relationships with upstream. I'm subscribed to the bugs of these packages and track the new upstream releases.

I now maintain DJPlay and libdjconsole in Debian. See http://qa.debian.org/developer.php?login=adri2000@gmail.com

Packaging in progress (on REVU or not yet)

Bugs fixed

These are only the bugs I fixed directly with an upload. See also https://launchpad.net/~adri2000/+assignedbugs

Merges/Syncs

I'm helping help with universe/multiverse merges and syncs for feisty.

Other

New upstream release of k9copy, grisbi, phpsysinfo, guifications, hardware-monitor. Iceweasel -> Firefox change in greasemonkey. SRU for obconf ([https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/obconf/+bug/62346 #62346]), cinepaint ([https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cinepaint/+bug/65457 #65457]).

Plans

  • Still translation and bug triage
  • Still more packaging
  • Become an Ubuntu member [done] and join the MOTU team Smile :)

Testimonials

[GauvainPocentek]: Adrien has been very active in the MOTU world since the edgy release, working on new packages, bugfixes and merges. He also helps newcomers on #ubuntu-motu, and on the french IRC channels. No doubt he will become a MOTU himself soon!

"DanielTChen": For several months, Adrien has been an asset in #ubuntu-bugs, where he has worked diligently and consistently with newcomers and experienced personnel alike. For slightly longer, he has also been very active in universe with merges/syncs and packaging. I'm happy to welcome him to the Ubuntu community as an official member!
